Gallery hours: May 21, 22, 28, 29, from 1 – 6pm.

How do you make invisible visible? Come see how 25 artists visually interpret this elusive word. Climb into Sarah Nesbitt’s alluring bed and feel the unseen that lies below. Watch and imagine Marc Knowles’s beautifully oozing triptych of glaciers melt before your eyes. Lament the truths of invisible labour that dwell in the textile/garment world with Katie Earle’s 15 foot woven, silkscreened and indigo dyed piece. Walk past Brandon Blommaert’s projection of nothing ten times before you realize your interaction with it turns nothing into something. Spend time revelling over the minutiae of Vanessa Yanow’s glass and textile collaboration with an anonymous woman. Dive into Annie Briard’s fairytale world in a video where a girl learns to disappear. Discover the hidden link between Florence Victor's painting and Van Eyck's Arnolfini Portrait. Dj’s NOMNRYN and Anna Lev from CKUT’s Venus Collective will turn your ears on for a night filled with good tunes, booze, and art that though invisible, is guaranteed to inspire!

Saturday and Sunday May 21 and 22nd. 1pm – 6pm. 450 & 454 Beaumont avenue, Parc Ex. Montreal

The Long Haul occupies 8000 square feet of an industrial building. With 18 studios housing 30 artists, it is a hive for creation. Artists working in all visual media will open their doors to the public to show their work spaces, their art and their works in progress. The open studio weekend will give art enthusiasts a chance to engage with artists and art on an intimate level, and collectors an opportunity to buy directly from the artists. Flame working glass, weaving on a loom, and paper-making demonstrations will be given throughout the weekend. Drawings, paintings, photography, textiles, jewellery and sculptures will be for sale. Making it over the tracks from the Mile End is guaranteed to satisfy your curiosity, and will give you a peek into a neighbourhood is changing faster than you can say: g e n t r i f i c a t i o n. The Invisible show will also be open for viewing during the open studio hours.
